Actual Mycotoxin Presence in Middle East & Africa (MEA)
In our Mycotoxin monitor we currently; year to date 2021, gathered more than 19,632 ingredients and finished feed samples collected from 39 countries across Europe, North America, South/Central America, Middle East/Africa and Asia.
Specifically for Middle East & Africa we analyzed over 2091 ingredient and finished feed samples in this period.
The data is predominantly coming from: South Africa, Tanzania, Nigeria, Uganda, Sudan, Rwanda, Kenya, Egypt, Cyprus and Saudi Arabia.
Poultry focus:
We see in the color card that mycotoxin levels are presenting itself in 1st stage of risk, which is the case for Afla, Don, Ochra and ZEA for 2021 December year to date period. To neutralize this tread a broad spectrum prevention product like TOXO-XL, with medium inclusion level would be advised.
The poultry overview is based on 2091 samples used in poultry nutrition on Africa & Middle East soil (table 1).
Commodity focus: above LOD (contaminated and ranked from high to lower risk): copra products, cotton seed meal, Defat. Rice Bran, wheat, layer feed, rapeseed meal, broiler feed and to lesser extend we found contaminated samples in hominy, Sunflower meal and wheat bran, maize and rice products.
Other species:
Dairy cow focus: we see in the color card that mycotoxin levels are presenting itself in 1st stage of risk, which is the case for Afla, DON and ZEA for 2021 December year to date period. To neutralize this tread a broad spectrum prevention product like TOXO(-XL), with medium inclusion level would be advised.
The summary is based on 1721 samples used in dairy nutrition on Middle East & African soil (table 2).
Commodity focus: above LOD (contaminated and ranked from high to lower risk): Copra products, cotton seed meal, rice bran, rapeseed meal, sunflower meal, hominy, ruminant feed, barley, wheat bran and to lesser extend we found contaminated samples in maize.
Beef focus:
We can observe from the color card that current mycotoxin levels for beef are currently not really under pressure. Aflatoxin (AFLA) seems to be exposed to a certain low level degree, which might be wise to keep a close eye on. To neutralize this tread a broad spectrum prevention product like TOXO-MX, with medium inclusion level would be advised.
The threshold to take action is for beef on average higher compared to for example dairy cows. The summary is based on 1729 samples used in beef nutrition on Middle East and African soil (table 3).
Commodity focus: above LOD (contaminated and ranked from high to lower risk): Copra products, cotton seed meal, rice bran, rapeseed meal, Sunflower meal, hominy and to lesser extend we found contaminated samples in barley and maize.
Swine focus:
When focusing on sows and growers, we see in the color card that mycotoxin levels particularly on Aflatoxin (AFLA) Deoxynivalenol (DON) and Zearalenone (ZEA) are present at a low risk level in this 2021 year to date overview. Be aware that piglets are even more susceptible for these mycotoxin treads. To neutralize this tread a broad spectrum prevention product like TOXO-XL, with medium inclusion level would be advised.
The summary is based on 1573 samples applicable in swine nutrition, taken on Middle East and African soil (table 4).
Commodity focus: above LOD (contaminated and ranked from high to lower risk): Copra products, cotton seed meal, rice bran, rapeseed meal, sunflower meal, hominy and to lesser extend we found contaminated samples in, barley and maize.
